BRISTOL 2018

Back Bristol Bristol Evening Post

Inside Media was recruited to support the successful bid for Bristol to be selected as a host city for the World Cup 2018 (had England been awarded the tournament).

The aim was to raise awareness of Bristol's bid to be chosen by the FA as a host city in England's 2018 World Cup bid and encourage people to register their support for the city online or by text.

Timescales were short and this meant a campaign had to be proactive and look for coverage that could be generated almost instantly.

Inside Media worked with the key regional daily to provide ideas and opportunities for relevant news stories in the build-up to the England bid announcement. We also recruited award-winning Bristol-based Pieminister to develop a one-off Bristol 2018 Bid pie called 'World Cup's at Steak', helping to endorse the campaign and create an appetite for the bid's success.

The limited edition pie was delivered to Bristol radio and TV stations during live breakfast shows and coverage was achieved on all targeted radio stations.

Working together with our sister companies, 72Point and OnePoll, we carried out two surveys to create stories of national interest including, Most Watched World Cup, Best City, Friendliest Football Grounds and Fans Favourite Locations.

Coverage was achieved in the national papers and Simon Russell was interviewed on TalkSport. We also supplied copy directly for the FA website after securing coverage via ITV's live broadcast of an FA Cup tie.

The Bristol 2018 received more registered expressions of support via text and online than any other bidding city.
