Once a year, we gather with our industry peers, for the CIPR West of England PRide Awards – our very own industry ‘Oscars’.
An opportunity to share in the past year’s achievements, catch up people and maybe pick up an award. Winning a PRide award is, well, something to be very proud of.
Dressed to the nines we small, but perfectly talented quartet of PRs, set off for the ‘do’ on Friday night. Joining the crowd at the bar we recognised many of our PR friends – those who we support and wish well, and those who we downright revere – and as the excitement built we took our place at (lucky) table eight.
We were joined for dinner by two PR teams that had travelled from Cornwall – The Vine Marketing and Cornwall Council – and quickly banded together to form a supportive alliance, raise a toast to the good night ahead, and enjoy a wonderful dinner.
Before we knew it, the time had come and we settled down for the presentation of the awards. There are 22 categories in total, plus an extra award this year for Best Dressed, which was elegantly carried off by Carole Theobold, Cornwall Council’s head of Communications and Strategy, who was sitting to my left.
We were shortlisted in three categories – Best Event, Best Use of Media Relations and Outstanding Small Consultancy – the latter of which is one of the major awards of the night, hence our delight when we heard “Inside Media wins Silver”.
For us that now means seven finalist nominations, two gold and one silver in 2010 and 2011.
Winning a PRide award and receiving the recognition for our performance and achievements over the past year is really something to celebrate (we did) and we are very proud.
We are a small agency and relatively new, but as part of the SWNS Media Group we truly believe we offer a unique proposition that other agencies simply cannot match.
